Visiting artists AdZel will present a recital. Clarinetists Stephanie Zelnick and Mariam Adam have been hailed by critics as "inspired and sensitive," and their duo AdZel is creating new dialogues through music. A duo formed from friendship, AdZel has performed around the world, collaborating with composers, performers, and conductors on three continents. AdZel will also present a masterclass during their visit to UNI on Monday, April 29 at 5 p.m. in Graham Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.

The New Horizons Band will offer its spring concert. Under the direction of Diana Blake, the New Horizons Band features musicians 55 and older who travel from all over Iowa. This event is free and open to the public.

Faculty artist Hannah Porter-Occeña will coordinate the second and final UNI School of Music student chamber music recital of the spring semester. This event is free and open to the public.

UNI Opera students will engage with guest artists in a final presentation following a day-long intensive workshop. This event is free and open to the public. 

 

Thursday, May 2, 2024 - 9:00 pm to 9:45 pm

View the evening sky at the UNI Observatory.   Constellations and other interesting objects in the night sky will be pointed out, and objects may also be viewed through the UNI telescope.  Meet before 9 PM outside of MSH 137, near the polar bear.  The event starts promptly and there is no admission for late arrivals.  Electronic devices, such as cameras, smart phones, etc, must not be used during the show.  No food, or drink is allowed.  This event is free and open to the public.

Member of the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of conductor Erik Rohde, will present the music of Star Wars. This event is free and open to the public.
