Study Abroad in England and Ireland information meeting

Learn about an option to study abroad for two weeks in July to England and Ireland and fullfill your Capstone requirements. Travel to Bath and Oxford in England, Dublin, Killarney and Doolin in Ireland and landudno in Wales, participate in an industrial tour, visit science museum and exhibitions, national park, farms and village sites to learn about the Techno-Social World. You will become familiar with the rich cultural, historical, environmental and industrial sites of these countries. Course CAP/TECH 3102: 3 credits

Hearst Lecture Series: Bob Ryan

Bob Ryan is a retired sports writer for the Boston Globe and a regular contributor for ESPN’s “Around the Horn.” He has been referred to as “the quintessential American sportswriter” and a guru of basketball. He retired from the Globe in 2012 after the winter Olympics but continued to report and appear on ESPN and elsewhere and has his own podcast, Bob Ryan’s Boston Podcast.” The lecture is open to the public, free of charge.

Final Thursday Reading Series featuring Marc Nieson

Nieson is the author of the memoir, Schoolhouse: Lessons on Love & Landscape (Ice Cube Press). He serves on the MFA faculty at Chatham University.

Open mic signup at 7:00.  Bring your best five minutes of poetry, fiction or creative nonfiction to share (singer/songwriters are also welcome). The open mic starts at 7:15 and the featured author takes the stage at 8:00. A Q&A will follow each reading. Books by regional writers will be available for purchase. The Final Thursday Reading Series is a collaboration of Final Thursday Press, the Hearst Center for the Arts, and the University of Northern Iowa College of Humanities, Arts and Sciences. Coffee is provided by Sidecar Coffee Roasters and cream is provided by Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy.

Final Thursday Reading Series featuring Adrianne Finlay

Finlay is the author of the young adult novel, Your One and Only (HMH Books), and an Associate Professor of English at Upper Iowa University.
