"Department of Art Faculty Exhibition"

The exhibition is a formal presentation of recent accomplishments by the faculty in the UNI Department of Art. It is an opportunity for students and the public at large to experience current themes in contemporary art and also to meet artists who not only teach but also maintain vibrant professional careers in studio art, graphic design, art history, and art education. The opening reception begins at 6 p.m., Mon., Oct. 9, in the KAB South lobby.

Guest Recital: BRUSH|REED Duo

Visiting artists BRUSH|REED, a duo featuring musician Jennifer Bill and visual artist Linnea Maas, will present a live performance. BRUSH|REED is a collaboration between artist and musician to explore the parallels of painting and sound through live performance. BRUSH|REED engages the audience through color, pitch, representational lines, rhythm, intensity and expression: an auralvisual experience. This event is free and open to the public.

Taking the Leap: Caring for the Earth and One Another

UNI will host “Taking the Leap: Caring for the Earth and One Another.” Guest speakers Anthony Rogers-Wright (in person) and Avi Lewis (via livestream) will speak about their work fighting for environmental justice and the growing movement to create a better, more sustainable world by addressing the climate crisis. Rogers-Wright is the U.S. coordinator for The Leap, an organization co-founded by author Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis, a journalist and filmmaker. This event is free and open to the public.

TheatreUNI: The Aliens

The lives of three young outsiders intersect in the grubby backyard of a Vermont coffeehouse. "The Aliens" is a delicate and subtly observed drama chronicling the characters' struggles to survive, connect and find meaning in their lives. Written by Annie Baker, whose other works include "The Flick," "John" and "Circle Mirror Transformation." Mature Content (14+). This production will contain smoking of non-tobacco products.

Observatory Show

Observatory Show

View the night sky through the computer controlled telescope at the Earth and Environmental Science Observatory. This event is free and open to the public; meet before 9 p.m. to get to the observatory (near the polar bear). No late admissions will be allowed; no food or drink and no cellphones or other electronic devices can be used during the observatory visit.
