UNI Assistant Professor of Art Noah Doely presents several different bodies of work that combine sculpture, photography, video, and found objects. The exhibition addresses themes of perception and authenticity to explore the paradoxical relationship between seeing and belief. With items curated from the collection of the UNI Museum. This work was supported in part by a 2018 artist fellowship grant from the Iowa Arts Council. Opening Reception: Tuesday, Aug. 28, 6:00 p.m. Gallery Talk by the artist: Tuesday, Sept. 25, 6:00 p.m.

Adelman and Gallery Director Darrell Taylor with didactics by UNI students of art history. Featured artists include Asianpunkboy, Berenice Abbott, Nick Cave, Felix D’Eon, Kelly V. Grider, Jr., Keith Haring, George Hurrell, Ellsworth Kelly, Catherine Opie, Robert Rauschenberg, and Bruce of Los Angeles.

UNI will join the national commemoration of Frederick Douglass' two hundredth birth year by hosting the Frederick Douglass Human Rights Festival in declaration of social justice and human rights current affairs. Events are scheduled to lift up the Power of Our Voices with dynamic library exhibitions, presentations, forums, orations and performance "slam" offerings sponsored by CHAS, CSBS, UNI Museum, CME,and the Rod Library. Free and open to the public.

Dana Potter, Jacob Espenscheid, Collin Cahill and Isaac Campbell present on their involvement with the interactive digital history website, proudandtorn.org. They will explain how their collaboration as IDS students boosted their careers, transported them to Hungary and brought them national awards. Their story is one of friendship, hard work and innovative thinking. An IDS social will follow.

Get ready for a celebration and join us for “Brave New World” the 37th annual Scholarship Benefit Concert! The evening will be filled with exceptional performances by student and faculty musicians including the UNI Wind Ensemble, faculty pianists Sean Botkin and Vakhtang Kodanashvili, the Northern Iowa Flute Choir, UNI Jazz Band One with new faculty artist Michael Conrad, the West African Drum Ensemble, and the Northern Iowa Symphony Orchestra with UNI Choirs presenting a preview excerpt of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. Pre-show arias by Opera UNI students will accompany our chocolate course served at 6:45 p.m., and the mainstage concert will be followed by a dazzling post-concert champagne reception where the music and excitement of the evening continue.
