"Annual Juried Student Art Exhibition"

Monday, March 25, 2019 - 7:00 pm to Saturday, April 20, 2019 - 5:00 pm

This competitive exhibition showcases outstanding works of art by students in the UNI Department of Art. The juror for this year's competition is T.J. Dedeaux-Norris, Assistant Professor of Art from the School of Art and Art History at University of Iowa in Iowa City. Dedeaux-Norris will give a lecture at 6 p.m., Wed., March 13, in KAB 111. The awards ceremony for the student exhibition will take place at 7 p.m., Mon., March 25, in KAB 111. The Friends of the UNI Permanent Art Collection & Gallery co-sponsored the opening reception, which follows the ceremony. All events are free and open to the public.

"Whose Land Is This? Native American, European and American Perspectives"

The Grout Museum of History & Science is the venue for the inaugural display of a traveling exhibit created by the UNI Center for Holocaust and Genocide Education on the contact between Native Americans, European explorers and traders, and American settlers in Iowa. The exhibit focuses on different conceptions and uses of land on the part of Native Americans, Europeans and Americans that shaped the interactions of these groups. "Whose Land Is This?" highlights federal, state, county and other sites related to Native Americans in Iowa and the history of exploration, colonization and settlement in the state.

As a collaboration with RodCon, Kat Leyh will be the speaker for the LGBT(ea) Time. Kat is a freelance comic book artist and writer living in Chicago. Her series Supercakes and Bird Witch are available in print form through Yeti Press. She has contributed back-up stories to the following BOOM! and KaBOOM! She's been the co-writer of Lumberjanes since issue 18 and cover artist since issue 24.
